About

Intro

SolusVM VPS Monitor (SVM) is a browser-based monitoring application that allows users of SolusVM-backed VPS (Virtual Private Server) to monitor the status (online/offline) and resources (memory/harddisk/bandwidth) usage of their VPS plans, without having to log into SolusVM Control Panel on vendors’ servers manually. In addition, users can perform boot/reboot/shutdown actions on their VPSes from SVM.

Requirements

It goes without  saying that only users of SolusVM-backed VPS will be able to use SVM. The reason for this is because currently only SolusVM provides adequate and easy-to-use client APIs in their virtualization management solution, enabling SVM to work. If other solution providers start offering similar functionalities, SVM (including the name itself) may be updated to accommodate them too.

It also goes without saying that you will need a browser to use SVM. For best user experience, latest release of Google’s Chromium or Chrome, or Mozilla’s Firefox or Seamonkey is recommended. All other browsers, like IE, Opera, Midori, Safari, etc. are not supported (yet), either due to lack of decent JavaScript-based extension system, or for being closed-source, or both.

Please choose the link corresponding to your browser. You can also select your browser from the navigation menu at the top of this page and follow the respective instructions.

Installations on Chromium/Chrome will be automatically updated if newer versions of SVM are available. Users of Firefox/SeaMonkey will have to wait for the acceptance of SVM into Mozilla’s add-on website before being able to get updates automatically.

Hi, what browser are you using?

There are screenshots showing where to access the plugin in the documentation pages linked in this post and at the top navigation bar.

Thanks for this plugin, it is exactly what I was looking for.

2 suggestions for a future update:

    – Manual status update.
    – Monitoring alerts on resources (ie: memory, disk space). For example, my servers sometimes become unresponsive and report 0% memory usage. For an unknown reason SolusVM still report the server “UP”…

    Thanks again!

Thanks for the remarks and suggestions. These two things were considered when I was working on this.

The thing with manual update is, if there is scheduled auto update about to start in the background, all the async calls are rather cubersome to handle properly.
For now, you can just set the update interval to 1min to approximate an almost munual update.

Resource overusage warning is already implemented, at least the bars will change color. Erraneous reporting like 0% is not yet handled, coz it’s for mem only, and rather rare.

    Hi,
If you are still maintaining/Updating this software, The ability to use HTTP vs HTTPS for the URL would be wonderful. Not all providers I work with support HTTPS 🙁

    • farter says:

      Hi,

As a paying customer, you are in your rights to ask your provider to enable HTTPS access to solusvm cp.

Anyway, if you know some javascript, this is easy to fix by modifying backend.js.
