Some of the URL links in the sources now (as of August 2012), are broken as websites have since changed/moved. For example, one of the errors when trying to build the sources is with the url for the Linux Kernel. In the “url” file located in “~/geexboxforwii/packages/linux”, it should be updated to something like “http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v2.6/linux-2.6.32.9.tar.bz2”. There are other errors with URL links such as the one for the configtool sources.

Is there a more recent version of the sources other than the one mentioned here?

That is probably a result of the fairly recent compromise of kernel.org.

No, I have not used the sources since last release. But since you are only concerned with building a kernel, you do not need to build the whole geexbox tree, just the kernel related packages are enough, which should be less than 20, mostly toolchain stuff.

I thought that I should add that most of the missing sources caused by the move of Geexbox sources can be found at “http://sources.openbricks.org/devel/” and the kernel related tools (such as binutils) can be found under various branches of “http://old-www.mirrorservice.org/sites/ftp.kernel.org/” for anyone intrested in building everything. Most of the other missing sources should be relatively easy to find.
